WE BELIEVE THAT

The climate crisis, environment and biodiversity loss, and the transition to a low-carbon and climate-resilient economy represent the greatest challenges facing humanity.

Taking action on climate is an opportunity to create a just and fair world that meets the needs of all people within the limits of nature.

Every government, business, and institution needs to embed climate action in their strategy and urgently reduce emissions.

Net zero is not enough, we need to go beyond – to restore, protect and regenerate our planet.
In 2020, we committed to adhering to the Paris Climate Agreement to ensure we do not contribute to the warming of the planet beyond 1.5 degrees; we also have signed the UN Global Compact Business Ambition for 1.5 degrees, to hold ourselves accountable to this pledge.
We are committed to learning, sharing, and taking even more ambitious steps in the future and to helping others do the same

01. Reach Net Zero
by measuring and reducing our emissions and plastic in line with the climate science, and offsetting remaining emissions and plastic
Read More +Measuring and Reducing Our Emissions and Plastic
We recognize that carbon emission reductions need to sit at the forefront of any climate action strategy. We have committed to measure and reduce our carbon emissions in line with the climate science and aim to reach net zero by 2026. Our ambitious targets go beyond the minimum requirements and have been approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).-
- Dalberg commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 55% by 2026 from a 2019 base year. Dalberg also commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions 55% per unit of revenue within the same timeframe.
- Dalberg commits to reduce per-person plastics footprint by 30% by 2026 from the firm’s 2019 baseline
Dalberg’s footprint across a diverse range of countries needs a different approach to reducing emissions and plastic in each location. Our network of Office Climate Champions ensure that reduction activities are locally applicable and relevant, whilst leveraging our global resources and capabilities
Offsetting Remaining Emissions and Plastic
Whatever we cannot reduce, we offset through the purchase of high-quality credits. Dalberg has been carbon and plastic neutral on an annual basis since 2019. Our carbon credit projects aim to:- Support restoration and regeneration through nature-based climate solutions
- Empower ownership by local and indigenous communities to benefit those most affected by climate change
- Focus on carbon removal credits in line with the Oxford Principles, but recognize the important role that avoidance credits can also play in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.

02. Create Climate
Solutionsby taking a climate lens to all projects, and driving climate impact for clients through project work
Read More +Taking a climate lens means that we integrate climate considerations in all our work. Regardless of the topic, we aim not to consider or propose solutions that would contribute to moving a country away from its own national targets on carbon intensity of growth. This may also mean turning away certain work that conflicts with our climate commitment.
- Our understanding of the context incorporates considerations of how accelerating effects of the climate and ecological crisis will impact different communities. We are especially concerned about the impact on the world’s most vulnerable — the people least responsible for creating the problem will be the ones hardest hit by the consequences
- Our analytical approach and methodologies deliver intentional climate analysis to explore the emissions implications, mitigation potential, and adaptation need for different stakeholders at each stage
- Our design and delivery of solutions include additional options that optimize for climate outcomes — including mitigation and adaptation considerations – even where this is not the central question asked by the client.

03. Catalyze a Climate
Communityby fostering innovation and helping to develop climate-focused coalitions for change
Read More +We have committed to be a laboratory for emerging and innovative climate solution providers to test their proposition with us. We lean forward in engaging such firms to help us with achieving our targets. In doing so, we hope to help new innovations emerge and come to market earlier.
Dalberg’s Climate Innovation Hub supports new climate start-ups and entrepreneurs. We offer participants a rapid problem-solving workshop – collaborating with our teams to identify solutions to their most pressing and relevant challenges. Look at Dalberg’s social media channels for the latest information and to apply for an upcoming workshop.
We aim to convene across enterprises in coalitions, working towards innovative partnerships for climate action. In addition to the SBTI Commitment to 1.5 degrees, Dalberg is a signatory to UNGC’s Uniting Business and Governments to Recover Better statement and Business for Nature’s call to action to reverse nature loss.
